Lester Ray “Bobo” Smothers, age 68 of Gravel Switch died Tuesday February 8, 2011 at his sister’s residence following an illness.

He was the son of the late Edgar and Elizabeth Thomas Smothers. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five sisters; Beulah Raque, Grace Wren, Bonnie Smothers, Edith Smothers, Ruby Smothers.

He is survived by one son; Lester Ray Smothers, Jr., two daughters and one son-in-law; Crystal Smothers of Lebanon and Tiffany and Dennis Bennett of Tennessee, two sisters; Eleanor Orberson of Gravel Switch and Edna Corcoran of Louisville, three grandsons; Harley Carpenter, Russ Smothers, and Wesley Coffman, and two granddaughters; Molly and Raylena Smothers. Several nieces and nephews also survive with a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Lester Ray Smothers will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday February 11, 2011 at the Campbell-DeWitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Haysville Cemetery. David William “Bill” Chapman, age 84 of Lebanon died Monday January 31, 2011 after an illness.

He was the son of the late Robert L. and Ora Stanton Chapman. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Juanita Chapman, one son; Bruce Aaron Chapman, and one sister; Mary Silvers.

He is survived by one son; David, and his wife Betty Chapman of Lebanon, one sister; Roberta Chapman of Lebanon, three grandchildren; Suzanna, Amy and David M. Chapman all of Lexington, and four-step-great-grandchildren; Chris, Brian, Kevin, and Keith Bailey of Lexington.

Funeral services for Bill Chapman will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday February 2, 2011 at Campbell-DeWitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Ryder Cemetery. Bro. Lillian Thompson, Age 88 of Bradfordsville died Thursday January 27, 2011 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. She was the daughter of the late William Jesse and Nellie Mae Wayman Abell.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers; Donald, Carl, Alton, and Alva Abell, one sister; Rosalie King, one grand-daughter, Corcynthia Lynn Thompson, and three great-grandchildren, Nicole Marie Adams Wright, Austin Bryan Thompson, and Kayla Sue Thompson. She is survived by her husband, Chester A. Thompson of Bradfordsville, seven sons; Wayne and Roger Thompson of Campbellsville, David and Mitchell Thompson of Bradfordsville, Jerry Thompson of Highgrove, and Chester Thompson Jr. and Kenneth Thompson of Bardstown, five daughters; Marlene Mullins of Lebanon, Lillie Wright of Mount Washington, Bonnie Cabell of Shelbyville, Connie Carnell of Georgetown, and Barbara Jean Raikes of Bradfordsville, one sister; Rhoda Mae Riley of Utah, twenty-five grandchildren, and thirty great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren also survive with a host of other relatives and friends. Floyd Wickel Pyle, age 81, of Lebanon died Friday January 7, 2011 at his residence following an illness.

He was the son of the late Herbert and Iva Mae Simpson Pyle. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters; Ann Lucas and Mabel Louise Pyle, one grandchild, and two great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; Mary E. Pyle of Lebanon, two daughters; Jennifer Pittman of Crab Orchard and Linda Carol Allen of Lebanon, two sisters; Stella Adney of Oklahoma and Nancy Ferguson of Bardstown, six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Flora Elizabeth Huber Tungate, age 87 of Campbellsville died Monday January 3, 2011 at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg.

She was the daughter of the late William Aylott Huber and Mary Alice Nelson Huber and was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky December 15, 1923. She was married to the late William Louis Tungate, and a member of Gravel Switch Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two daughters, Mattie Mae Tungate and Fannie Paulette Tungate, four sisters; Osa Mae Hunt, Mattie Miller, Ruby Huber, and Bessie Huber, and five brothers; Dewey Huber, Lloyd Huber, Sherman Huber, Lucian Huber, and Albert Huber.

She is survived by five sons; Gene Tungate and his wife Margaret of Springfield, Millard Tungate and his wife Doris of Lebanon, Gary Tungate and his wife Connie of Lebanon, Herbert Tungate and his wife Teresa of Gravel Switch, and Rex A. “Rusty” Tungate of Campbellsville; three daughters; Alice Borders of Fairplay, Lottie Shaw and her husband Robert of Campbellsville, and Betsy Dudgeon of Campbellsville; five grandsons; James Borders of Louisville, Millard Tungate, Jr. of Hodgenville, Gary Lee Tungate of Gravel Switch, Christopher Dudgeon of Campbellsville, Matthew Tungate of Lebanon; five granddaughters; Tisha Carney of Springfield, Kimberly Cook of Campbellsville, Amanda Ball of Lexington, Melissa Tungate of Gravel Switch, and Coramae Tungate of Campbellsville, one brother and a twin sister; Herman Huber and his wife Justine of Louisville, and Dora Morris of Louisville; one step-sister-in-law; Myrtle Huber of Campbellsville; four great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters, and four step-great-granddaughters.

Cora “Cordy” Delane Grayson, age 63 of Marion County died December 15, 2010 in Louisville following an illness.

She was the daughter of the late George Beckham Noe and Roberta Ellis Gribbins Noe.

She is survived by one son Bobby Lee Grayson of Bradfordsville, two daughters, Carol and her husband Billy Stayton of Lebanon, and Charlotte and her husband Greg Carter of Louisville, four sisters: Dola Raikes and Joyce Godbey of Bradfordsville, Geraldine Phillips of Louisville, and Libby Perkins of Lawrenceburg. Eight grandchildren survive: Marty, Corey, Andrew, Alex, and Aric of Louisville, and Wes, Trent, and Kaleb of Lebanon.

Funeral Services for Cora “Cordy” Delane Grayson will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday December 18^th at the Campbell-DeWitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Old Liberty Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her father, William Thomas Hayden, one son, Tony Hayden, one brother, George Hayden, and one sister, Debbie Downs of Lebanon.

She is survived by her husband, David Turner, her mother, Aline Hayden, three sons, Troy Beach of Campbellsville, and Timmy and Toby Turner of Lebanon, one brother, Jerry Hayden of Lebanon, and two sisters, Pam Garrett and Jackie Reynolds of Lebanon. Seven grandchildren also survive along with a host of relatives and friends.

Alvin Heistand Allen, age 84, died Sunday in Lebanon after an illness.

He was born November 18, 1925 to the late Charles W. and Martha Price Allen in Marion County. He is also preceded in death by his brother John “Cooch” Allen and sister Martha Allen Alford.

He is survived by one daughter, Linda Nally of Lebanon, one grandson, Craig Bishop of Raywick and two granddaughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Andy Mattingly of Calvary, Gevette and Jodie Riggs of Lebanon, six great grandchildren also survive with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Alvin Heistand Allen were conducted at 11:00 AM , Thursday, November 18, 2010 at the Campbell-DeWitt Funeral Home with burial in the Mt. Washington Baptist Church Cemetery.

He was the son of the late Bert and Effie Ann Lanham Hart. He was also preceded in death by one son Donnie Lee Hart. He was a member of the Beechfork Baptist Church and a farmer.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Bohanon Hart, of Gravel Switch, one son & daughter-in-law, Stephen Carroll & Amanda Hart of Riley and one sister Betty Ann Smothers of Shepherdsville.
